Saturday afternoon marks Rhydymwyn’s first competitive game in almost 500 days, following the Covid-19 crisis curtailing and cancelling their 2019/20 and 2020/21 seasons respectively.

The Rhyd return to face nearby Greenfield FC in the 1st qualifying of the JD Welsh Cup, as they look to start their campaign with a potential cup run.

Anthony Weaver and Jordan Parry’s side travel to the Bagillt Road for a 2pm kick off following a lengthy pre-season campaign in which they have played a number of third tier and second tier outfits.

Ahead of the game, they said:

“It’s incredible to think we have gone nearly 500 days without a competitive game, but the focus now is making it worth the wait in the biggest and most prestigious competition in Welsh football.

“We’re confident the lads are ready after a series of encouraging performances in pre-season, and above all they should enjoy the moment after so long on the sidelines.

“Greenfield are a highly respected outfit here in Flintshire and we know we’ll need to give our all to get a result and secure our place in the second qualifying round draw.”

The match takes place at Greenfield’s Bagillt Road ground (CH8 7HQ) and score updates will be provided on our Twitter page.
